Collection: Capacitors
Air Conditioner capacitor is the most common cause of AC malfunction. This is the part you need to replace before buying a new expensive compressor.Â
Symptoms of a bad AC capacitor is that, the AC condenser fan , the outside unit, comes on but the compressor does not engage. As the result, the fan blows in the house but it does not blow cool air.Â
Caution: Be sure the circuits are shut off or junction block is removed. Capacitors store electricity, just like batteries. You must discharge the capacitor by shorting the terminals with a well insulated tool before removing the wires.
